What is your past experience in marketing?

Lindsay: My career started in journalism about 16 years ago — I loved writing and telling stories, so I worked for multiple magazines and newspapers throughout Colorado to gain experience and find my purpose. I worked for 303 Magazine where I helped take the magazine from print to digital, introducing SEO to my world. After learning how to optimize websites and content for increased organic traffic, I knew marketing was the direction I wanted to head in.

Since then, I’ve worked for a variety of companies — an online university, jewelry designer, natural skincare and makeup company, mental health care, and even for digital agencies.

I love marketing. It can be complex, but that’s why I want to help clients by uncomplicating it for them.

Why did you start your own marketing consulting business?

I’ve worked for companies in house my entire career — some in person and some online only. I’ve learned so much, and I wanted to take all that experience and passion for marketing and help even more brands and small businesses.

I started The Happy Marketing Co. because I not only wanted more freedom to travel and have flexibility during the day, but I truly love connecting with CEOs and small business owners by being their marketing and growth partner.

What is your zone of genius?

Great question — I LOVE auditing marketing channels and operational processes. Like…really. When a client or lead tells me they need help, the first thing I do is pull up their website and social media channels. I love looking at what they’re currently doing and finding a way to expand what they do to reach the right audience and increase sales for them!

I love solving problems through strategic and data-based marketing, but I also love coming up with creative campaigns, blogs, social posts, and so on. I think my brain is equally technical as it is creative — so I use both with my clients.

What types of clients do you work with?

I so far haven’t met a client that wasn’t a good match! I’ve worked with several coaches in health and wellness, breathwork, and nutrition. I’ve also had clients in the CPG world, such as supplements and food and beverage. Non-profit organizations, high education, car dealerships, fashion and beauty…I’ve worked with them all to optimize their marketing and increase sales.

How long do clients work with you typically?

This will depend on each client and their needs and goals. I’ve had several clients who prefer a three-month retainer to diagnose and audit their marketing, set a strategy for each channel, then have me execute the work within 90 days. Some clients have a launch or one-time campaign that I build. I also provide fractional CMO services, which is more of an ongoing marketing partnership to lead their team, optimize their marketing and systems, and own growth.

After our discovery call, I create a customized proposal tailored to each client’s needs and go from there!
